Many spray-ons come with fake tan stench as standard but Sun FX is virtually odourless. The product’s bronzer gives an instant tan and the developer works over the next twelve hours with your natural skin tones. It lasts up to a week.

St Tropez Airport
The next generation of spray-on tanning, St Tropez Airport cannot be beaten for speed and accuracy. Paper knickers intact, you clamber into a booth – called an “airport” because of its air jets – and a therapist hand-sprays you with the fine liquid tan. Air jets in the floor of the booth create a draft so to avoid breathing in the product. Two coats are recommended for a deeper tan but it only takes about ten minutes for each application. You get an instant colour, which develops over the next four hours. Afterwards you can dress – ideally in loose-fitting, dark-coloured clothes – and go about your normal day. The colour lasts about five days.

Fake Bake
If spray tans make you squeamish then stick to tanning lotion. Tried and trusted in the world of celebrities, Fake Bake is a natural self-tanning treatment from the USA. It takes around 20 minutes to dry so the overall application can take up to an hour. The tanning agents start working upon contact with the skin to give you an instant colour, which continues to develop throughout the day. It lasts about five days, maybe a week with a lot of moisturising. Working with your skin's natural pigment it gives a great streak-free, stench-free tan. The great thing about this is that you can look at a colour guide beforehand and decide how dark you want to go. If you want to look after your skin, rather than just colour it, this is a good choice.
